Volunteer Awards 2019
On Friday 12th April 2019 St Albans Community Association held their annual volunteer awards at Brandhall Labour Club in Oldbury.
Every year staff are asked to nominate the volunteer they felt contributed significantly to the centre to receive the Pat Ryan Volunteer of the Year Award. Nominees are current volunteers of the centre. Staff voted and the unanimous winner was Bryan Barker.
Bryan has been volunteering with St Albans for a while now and in this time has covered many volunteer roles including driving our minibus.
Pete Ryan and our Chair, Robert Evetts presented the Pat Ryan Volunteer of the Year Award to Bryan for his commitment and dedication to St Albans.
The befriending Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Kelly Hodgson in recognition of the hard work and additional time and effort she had given to the project. Kelly not only visited people as a befriender she also came into the office every week to do phone calls to the clients and volunteers.
There were many more awards presented to the volunteers that evening, including one for Outstanding Contribution to George Ferguson and the St Albans staff, volunteers and supporters had a great evening. With a buffet made up of a range of sandwiches, chicken or vegetarian curry, rice, naan bread and samosa. The evening was a great success, there was lots of eating, dancing and fun. Thank you all for coming!
