Tonia has managed the centre since 2004. She has a Level 4 qualification in Management and a Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) qualification in non-violent crisis intervention. She is a qualified First Aider and has a good understanding of funding requirements and criteria, is an experienced researcher and has excellent communication and organisational skills.
She has undertaken Safeguarding Adults and Level 3 Safeguarding Children training with the Local Authority. She has a strong grasp of the strategic direction of the organisation and is responsible for identifying, preparing and implementing statutory and non-statutory policies as well as recognising the need to meet the organisation’s requirements to public and private agencies such as the government, the local authority, Companies House and the Charity Commission.
Tonia has previously worked as a grants officer for the Big Lottery (Awards for All grants programme), sits on the Board of SCVO, the secretary of Sandwell IAG, sits on both the VCS leaders Forum and the Health and Social Care Forum and is an active member of Sandwell Community Hubs Cooperative.
She has an open-door policy and provides support and advice from governance to funding to smaller groups utilising the Centre.
