Supporting Families Through Challenging Times

Every family’s journey is unique. Through practical support, emotional guidance, and strong partnerships with local services, we help families overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

Case Study 1: Facing Eviction as a Single Parent
The Challenge
A single parent caring for a child with additional needs faced a Section 21 eviction notice while working night shifts. Alongside housing uncertainty, concerns included immigration status, an ongoing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) application for a child, and difficulties managing multiple pressures alone.

How We Helped
Provided one-to-one support to prioritise and manage urgent issues.
Assisted with applying for and obtaining settled status.
Offered guidance around the eviction process and court preparation.
Supported engagement with mental health services.
Encouraged attendance at parent coffee mornings to reduce isolation.
Facilitated access to specialist support through Black Country Women’s Aid.

The Outcome
The parent now feels more confident about the future, has a better understanding of the eviction process, and is actively engaging with services that support both emotional wellbeing and practical needs.

“I can take things one day at a time and not be overly anxious about the future. I now know what to expect and possible outcomes.”

Case Study 2: Supporting a Parent with a Baby Under One
The Challenge
A parent with a six-month-old baby was experiencing severe sleep deprivation, social isolation, and poor mental wellbeing. Previous experiences of trafficking and exploitation had also contributed to significant emotional challenges.

How We Helped
Supported contact with a Health Visitor to establish a sleep routine.
Encouraged attendance at social groups and coffee mornings.
Provided food bank vouchers, food parcels, and household essentials.
Supported engagement with other professionals and services.
Offered ongoing emotional support and practical advice.

The Outcome
The baby’s improved sleep routine allowed the parent to rest more effectively, improving wellbeing and confidence. The parent is now attending community groups regularly and building positive relationships with other families.

“I feel much better now, so other people should have that too.”
“I feel more rested and happier. I have more confidence to attend the coffee morning and feel more positive about the future.”
