This year St Albans and Dorothy Parkes Centre worked in partnership on a local initiative “Give a Gift”. This campaign was to collect gifts for children who would be spending Christmas in hospital and gifts for older people who would not otherwise receive anything.
We were absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who donated to us, but most especially a massive thank you to Shireland Hall Primary who collected approx 100 gifts. This was an amazing effort and we hope they understand what it means to us all.
The gifts collected for children were sorted into age appropriate categories, then wrapped, labelled and delivered to Sandwell Hospital and City Hospitals to be given out on the Paediatric wards.
The gifts for older people were given to a local group who provide Christmas dinner for those who have no family and the remainder were passed to the hospitals for distribution on their older persons wards for those remaining in hospital over the festive period.
